Emily Cameron, a 17 year old BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design student from Bury College, praised the concept of a localised course search site: “There are cost implications for traveling a long way to university so I’m keen to study locally and want to survey all my options.
“I don’t want to move too far away from my family at this stage so that’s another reason I’m also looking at local degree courses. So far I’ve looked at The University of Manchester, The University of Bolton and The Manchester College.”
Emily, who is in the second year of her BTEC and lives in Bolton, insisted that tutors can help with the selection process too: “I never actually wanted to go to university until I started talking to my tutors here at Bury College. They convinced me that I could go; they are very proactive and supportive and have been a great help.”
