The purpose of this handbook is to explain how work-based learning and, more specifically, work-based assessment operates. It covers the role and responsibilities of module tutors and outlines those of other stakeholders. Linking work-based learning with university study provides an opportunity for teaching staff to enrich their relationships with industry. Work-based assessment enables learners to capture and expand on learning opportunities which take place at work and present this learning in order to have it assessed for credit at university level.
