In February 2006, the GMSA received funding to run the Greater Manchester Lifelong Learning Network. The overall objective for an LLN is to improve the coherence, clarity and certainty of progression opportunities for vocational learners into and through higher education. The GMSA is seeking to work with employers to create higher education that is relevant and accessible to learners in the workplace. LLN funding was granted by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).
In May 2008, HEFCE produced a report to follow the LLN Progression Agreement Symposium of October 2007. The report, with an article highlighting the GMSA's practice, is available to download, right.
