The Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance’s many success stories, illustrating the partnership’s added value to learners, employers and education providers, have been recognised by two separate evaluations – HEFCE’s Interim Evaluation of Lifelong Learning Networks and an independent report into the GMSA’s LLN project so far.

With the ever pressing need for partnership in the development of flexible and employer-focused provision, Greater Manchester’s entire higher education community gathered for a two day event. The Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance’s flourishing partnership was celebrated by members and special guests alike and upcoming challenges were closely analysed.

Representatives from every university, college and training provider in the Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance will gather for a two day Forum next month. HEFCE’s Special Advisor on Employer Engagement, Hugh Tollyfield, and Director of the Development and Enhancement Group at the QAA, Nick Harris, will be in attendance.

The Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance’s approach to delivering flexible higher education has received strong support from John Denham, the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills, in his annual grant letter to HEFCE.

Almost 1,000 students are being supported into and through Foundation Degrees this year, thanks to Additional Student Numbers (ASNs) from the Greater Manchester Strategic Alliance. More than £2m has been provided to GMSA member institutions to create higher education places for adults in the workplace and vocational students.
